My name is Oliver Maclean. I am a young film maker and writer. I have a great passion towards creative fiction and hope to turn it into a career one day.
The showreel is out of date and poorly made by the time you are reading this, because I can't stand anything I've made more than a few months ago (and it sucks).
I have a special love for animation and video games, both their direction and writing, and how they bring imaginary worlds to life. My main inspirations are the catalogue of films by Hayao Miyazaki, as well as the video game 'Deltarune' by Toby Fox and the catalogue of films by Tomm Moore. Other media pieces that inspired me are the anime adaptations of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure by Hirohiko Araki and Naokatsu Tsuda and Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami and Shota Goshozono. I have a love for projects that can explore aspects of the natural world, identity and mental health in creative an innovative ways.
I'm currently studying at the University of Westminster for a BA Hons in Animation, where I'm practising my 2D drawing, 3D modelling and art in general. I'm an avid player and game master in TTRPGs, where I can further hone my writing, acting and improv skills and I'm also practising voice acting on the side and am actively auditioning to multiple projects.
